Air Locks are the most convenient way to prevent air from getting to the product you are fermenting. At the same time, allowing the fermenting byproduct, CO2 (carbon dioxide) to escape the container safely. Does away with that messy and sometimes hazardous tubing, silicon, duct tape, and water container through one simple little device.

Fill the air lock up half way with water and be sure to put the cap back on (there are micro holes in the cap for venting). Some people will put food coloring into water for easier detection. But the Three Piece air lock gets really rowdy during the primary fermation and fun to watch.
